Protocol Design Issues in WLAN

چکیده
IEEE 802.11 wireless LAN (WLAN) is the most widely used WLAN standard today, but it cannot provide QoS support for the increasing number of multimedia applications. Thus, a large number of 802.11 QoS enhancement schemes have been proposed, each one is focusing on a particular mode. This work summarizes all these schemes and presents current research activities. We are proposing in this work to adapt the concept of Quality of Service (QoS) issues in wireless LAN scenario. A deep comparative analysis has been done with leader based schemes and results have been verified using OPNET simulator.

An efficient non-repudiation billing protocol in heterogeneous 3G-WLAN networks
The wireless communication with delivering variety of services to users is growing rapidly in recent years. The third generation of cellular networks (3G), and local wireless networks (WLAN) are the two widely used technologies in wireless networks. 3G networks have the capability of covering a vast area; while, WLAN networks provide higher transmission rates with less coverage. Since the two n...

As demand for deployment and usage is increased in WLAN environment, achieving satisfactory throughput is one of the challenging issues. Initially as WLAN environment is data centric, the best effort delivery based protocol serve the purpose up to certain extent. With multimedia traffic protocol fails to deliver required traffic. The requirement of satisfactory network performance is delivery o...

Full-duplex (FD) wireless communication is evolving into a practical technique, and many studies are being conducting in this area, especially regarding the physical layer. However, to exploit FD benefit successfully, efficient medium access control (MAC) protocols are crucial as well as physical layer advances. Numerous FD-MAC protocols have been proposed, but these MAC protocols cannot addres...

This paper aims at providing a graphical user interface for WLAN monitoring and management system “WLAN Inspector”, which gives network operators the software and performance management tools necessary to monitor and manage network availability, achieve real-time monitoring (7 × 24 hours) and intelligent management, report on IP networks performance, and troubleshoot issues through a single Web...
متن کاملDesign of A Compact CPW-FED UWB Antenna with WiMAX and WLAN Band-Notched Characteristic Evaluated in AHP Framework
In this article, we present a new design of a coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. Two notched frequency bands are achieved by using two inverted U-shaped stepped impedance resonators. The proposed antenna can operate from 2.82 to 11 GHz (118%), defined by VSWR< 2, except two notched bands around 3.5 GHz (WiMAX) and 5.5 GHz (WLAN)...
